Film: Covid’s Silver Lining

The Story

When the world shut down during Covid-19, Project Rescue faced overwhelming uncertainty. As an international nonprofit serving women and children affected by sex trafficking, their ability to reach survivors was suddenly at risk. But amid the crisis, a surprising story of hope began to unfold.

Project Rescue needed to share this silver lining-but with operations spanning sensitive locations, anonymity and safety were non-negotiable. The story had to be powerful and protective.

We centered the narrative around Jonathan Barratt, Executive Director of Project Rescue Foundation, allowing his personal perspective to carry the emotional weight of the story. Through his eyes, viewers journeyed from fear and disruption to trust and unexpected breakthroughs.

The Strategy

Key Story Decisions:

One strong voice: Jonathan’s authenticity, vulnerability, and leadership gave the story both heart and credibility.

Creative constraints: With no travel possible, we built the film using a combination of in-office interviews, archive footage, photos, and stock-crafted carefully to conceal sensitive locations and identities.

Structure that built tension and hope:
 • Conflict: Global shutdowns, uncertainty, and urgent needs.
 • Journey: Project Rescue’s real-time response and adaptive strategy.
 • Resolution: A surprising moment of growth and trust-a new chapter emerging from crisis.

This approach made the film feel timely, honest, and deeply human.

The Outcome

The film premiered as part of a virtual fundraising event-and helped fuel a seven-figure giving response.

By highlighting God’s faithfulness and the resilience of the mission, the story inspired confidence and generosity during one of the most uncertain seasons in recent history.

It’s more than a Covid story-it’s a story of faith, courage, and continued impact.
