Spain Impact Film Re-edit Treatment
PROJECT RESCUE | 2024
Carol (real name); Claudia
CHARACTER BRIEF
We will follow Claudia as the main character as she talks about her story of being lured to Europe at the promise of a better life only to realize she was trapped into a life of sexual exploitation.
-
She comes from a Christian background and household, and yet she was still lured into a life of prostitution.
-
She wants freedom. She wanted freedom out of her life in South America, and then again when she was trapped into prostitution, she wanted freedom and felt like it wasn't going to come.
-
Her sister committed suicide, which was the catalyst for all the events following. She was broken, her family was broken and it pushed her into a bad decision.
KEYWORDS
-
What's most inspiring about this story?
The healing that Claudia is in the process of is truly a miracle. It's giving her true freedom and allowing her to help other women going through the same thing. -
What makes this story different than previous ones is what sexual exploitation looks like in the modern western world. The police describes it as "practically invisible." The women are trapped in apartments, working 24/7, they get moved around often, and communication is all by cell phones.
-
The main audience for this film is first timers that maybe haven't heard of Project Rescue before. This could be used at special events, concerts, as a part of the Rescue Day kit, etc.
-
The main takeaway from the audience will be enlightenment. A much better understanding of the complexities of exploitation in a modern western society. It looks different in Europe, and there is a huge need for support.
-
We want viewers to be ready for action, to engage with Project Rescue's initiatives. Past supporters will be ready to give monetary donations. New or online audience will be challenged to take the next step in engagement (following on social, giving a first donation, sharing...)
STORYBOARD
HOOK
1. Claudia wanted “out”
After her sister’s suicide, she felt stuck and wanted an out of her situation, despite her christian upbringing and family. She was promised a better life as a prostitute in Spain, so she accepted.
CONFLICT
2. Claudia is trapped in this new life
She quickly realizes the “better life” was a lie, and her captors made her think she was stuck there.
INITIATION
3. She still believed in God
She still had hope that something would change.
JOURNEY
4. Psychological manipulation
Her captors took her passport, made her believe the police would deport her if she was found, they controlled her schedule, made her work 24/7, told her she had a big debt to pay, added “fines” to her debt for not servicing men well.
She didn’t realize she was a victim, they made her feel like they were helping her.
JOURNEY
5. Police involvement
Police says “it’s practically invisible” (the exploitation) because it’s all done behind closed doors in apartments, they use cell phones as communication, they move the women often and shuffle them around…
The police can only investigate if a survivor presses charges. They were investigating in that area.
JOURNEY
6. Answered prayer
Claudia still believed in God, and she prayed, “please help me get out of here.”
Shortly after, she got a knock on the door followed by several policemen coming in and searching her apartment. They took her to the police station where she was met with someone from the safe home, and agreed to go with her.
RESOLUTION
7. Healing and restoration
Claudia has since been healing and serving God again. She’s joined the safe home team and is helping other women who are just starting their healing and restoration journey.

STYLE IDEAS
The conflict & beginning journey: Eerie feeling/sounding, highlighting the mental manipulation and feeling trapped, suffocative in that apartment
Use of stock footage to help fill in gaps and have visual representation of mental torment
The rescue & resolution: slowly and cautiously starts to feel free (reflected in music change and broll of her at the beach)
