Ep. 66 | Ministry Fundraising Without Stories? Build a Simple Story Bank That Keeps Donors Engaged

Struggling to fundraise?

This FREE & LIVE workshop will help you break free from the guilt and discomfort around asking for money — and confidently invite people into the mission God gave you.

Get ready to:

  1. Stop Feeling Embarrassed About Asking for Money

  2. Know Exactly How to Start the Conversation

  3. Invite Support with Confidence

You know stories matter.

Stories of impact.

Stories of transformation.

Stories of how God is moving through your ministry.

But then it’s time to write a donor update or newsletter… and suddenly your mind goes blank.

You know things are happening in your ministry. You know lives are being touched. But when it’s time to actually write a story down, it can feel like there’s nothing there.

If that’s ever happened to you, you’re not alone.

In this episode, I’m sharing a simple way to build what I call a story bank — a place where you capture meaningful moments so you always have stories ready to share with your donors.

Instead of waiting for big dramatic transformation stories to appear, you start noticing the smaller moments where God is already at work.

Inside the episode, I walk through three simple steps.

1. Put on your “story glasses”

Stories are happening around you all the time.

But most of the time, they’re small.

A moment of trust.

A glimpse of change.

A conversation that reveals something deeper.

When you start intentionally looking for these moments, you begin to notice them everywhere.

Those small moments often become the most powerful stories to share with donors.

2. Create reminders to capture stories

Ministry life moves fast.

If you don’t intentionally pause to capture stories, they disappear.

That’s why it helps to create simple prompts like:

• a weekly reminder

• a calendar reflection

• a daily note or email prompt

These small nudges help you pause and ask:

Did something meaningful happen this week?

Often the answer is yes.

3. Store stories in a simple system

Once you start noticing these moments, you need a place to store them.

Your story bank doesn’t need to be complicated.

It can be:

• a notes app

• a spreadsheet

• a simple document

• or a tool like Airtable

Most of the time, one sentence is enough.

Just capture the moment so you can revisit it later.

If you write down just one story per week, you’ll have 52 stories by the end of the year ready to share with donors.

That’s a powerful resource.
