Ep. 53 | Lost in the Weeds? How Clear Messaging Makes Ministry Fundraising Easier
Struggling to Write Your Newsletters so Supporters Engage?
You’ve seen God do amazing things- but if your emails are vague or unclear, your supporters won’t feel connected.
This free guide will show you how to:
Write subject lines that get your emails opened
Follow a simple story-driven format for every update
Engage donors with clear, Christ-centered storytelling
Struggling to explain what your ministry actually does? You’re not alone—so many ministry leaders feel deep in the weeds, juggling tasks, programs, and roles until the mission itself gets hard to articulate.
If you find yourself listing off every initiative instead of clearly explaining the heart of your ministry, this episode will help you find the message you’ve been trying to say but couldn’t quite form.
Why Your Message Feels Scattered
Sometimes you’re doing so much—programs, outreach, discipleship, community care—that you lose track of the one thing that matters most. Then someone asks, “What does your ministry do?” and you start rambling: “Well, we do this… and that… and sometimes this…”
You’re not unclear because you don’t care. You’re unclear because you’re overwhelmed by all you carry.
The Three Things That Bring Clarity
1. Know Who You’re Actually Talking To
If you’re talking to “everyone,” you’re talking to no one. To fundraise confidently, you have to know your ideal donor—their story, desires, and motivations. Only then will your words land. When they hear themselves in your message, they lean in.
2. Identify the Core Need You Exist to Meet
Your ministry might touch many lives in many ways, but it exists to meet one overarching need. If you can’t say that need clearly, donors won’t understand why your ministry matters—nor why their support matters.
3. Paint the Vision of What Success Looks Like
Donors don’t give to abstract good work. They give toward a future that’s changed because of them. What happens when that need is met? How are lives transformed? What’s the ripple effect? That vision is the heart of your ask.
Clarity Makes Fundraising Easier
When you speak to the right person, explain the urgent need, and paint the resolution of the story, everything changes. Fundraising doesn’t feel like scrambling. Your message carries confidence… and donors respond.
If you need help uncovering that message, I walk ministries through this step by step in coaching.
